Duraflex Glued Steel Fiber

DuraflexTM Hook End Steel Fibers ; available in loose and glued form are especially designed to offer most convenient and cost effective product for concrete reinforcement. The Fibers are made from high tensile strength wire > 1000 Mpa in accordance with ASTMA820 M04 Type I, and EN 14889. Duraflex Steel Fibers enhances the ductility and load bearing capacity of the concrete.

Glued Fibers are suitable for easy mixing for high dosage FRC applications while Loose Fibers offers economical solution for low to medium dosage FRC applications.

Benefits of Steel and PP Fibers

Steel Fibers (Structural Fibers) can:

  • Improve structural strength

  • Reduce steel reinforcement requirements

  • Improve ductility

  • Reduce crack widths and control the crack widths tightly thus improve durability

  • Improve impact & abrasion resistance

  • Improve freeze-thaw resistance

Micro PP fibers (Non-Structural) can:

  • Improve mix cohesion, improving pumpability over long distances

  • Improve freeze-thaw resistance

  • Improve resistance to explosive spalling in case of a severe fire

  • Improve impact resistance

  • Increase resistance to plastic shrinkage during curing

Blends of both steel and polymeric fibers are often used in construction projects in order to combine the benefits of both products; structural improvements provided by steel fibers and the resistance to explosive spalling and plastic shrinkage improvements provided by polymeric fibers.

Fiber Blends - Concrete can be reinforced blends of steel and/or synthetic and/or cellulose Fibers. The reason for using Fiber blends is to enhance the properties of concrete by combing the benefits that each particular Fiber type can impart.

There is no Fiber type that can encompass all the desired properties of fresh and hardened concrete in terms of, for example, providing load bearing capacity at cracked sections, crack control, spalling resistance at elevated temperatures, improved abrasion, impact and frost resistance. However, appropriate blends of Fibers, with or without, traditional reinforcing bars can lead to synergetic effects, i.e. combinations of different Fiber types can enhance concrete in both its fresh and hardened states.
